Tusi-Couple figure picture,  ingenious device for generating rectilinear motion along the diameter of the outer circle from two circular motions,  Maragheh, East Azarbaijan province, Iran.  From a 14th century copy of manuscript written by Persian astronomer Nasir ad-Din at-Tusi (1201-1274),  this idea was adapted by Arab astronomer Ibn al-Shatir (1304-1375),  and was also adapted by French astronomer Nicole Oresme (1323-1382)  who was also Bishop of Lisieux and a competent translator as well,  then later it was adapted by the Polish/German astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus (1473-1543)  and published the De revolutionibus orbium coelestium.  Greek astronomer Aristarchus (310BC-230BC) of Samos, and, Greek Pythagorean astronomer Philolaus (480BC-385BC)  also proposed of Heliocentric cosmology, instead of Geocentric cosmology.  Persian astronomer Abu Rayhan al-Biruni (973-1048) mentioned of an astrolabe called Zuraqi made by Al-Sijzi (945-1020)  which was Heliocentric cosmology model.  Thanks to Library of Congress Vatican Exhibit (Greek Astronomy, Image ID: Vat. ar. 319 fol. 28 verso math19 NS.15) and Konstable at Wikimedia.org for the original picture/source.  (Pic#23).
